The Effect of Treatment with EMA-CO Regimen in the Trophoblastic Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
A retrospective clinical analysis was made to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy on 21 high-risk GTT patients classified according to WHO prognostic scoring system, who recieved EMA-CO regimen at the Pusan National University Hospital from Jan. 1986 to June 1990.
The results obtained were as (allows
1. The overall remission rate was 85.7% with a remission rate of 91.7% in the primary treatment group and 7i.8% in the second-line treatment group.
2. The mean number of courses needed to achieve complete remission was 6.1(range 2-11).
3. The relapse rate after achieving remission was 56%.
.4. The hematologic toxicity showed anemia in 15 cases(71.4%), leukopenia in 12 cases(57.1%), and thrombocytopenia in 6 cases(28.6% ).
5. Variable degrees of nausea and vomiting occurred in all cases, and hepatic dysfunction was present in 42.6 %.
6. Variable degrees of alopecia occurred in all cases but recovered spontaneously after completing chemotherapy
